Philippines: SM Seaside City Cebu Marks World Choral Day with Local Ensembles

SM Seaside City Cebu resonated with the sounds of harmony as it celebrated World Choral Day on December 8, featuring performances from some of the finest choral groups in Cebu at the Mountain Wing Atrium.

The event honored the global tradition of celebrating choral music, an initiative launched by the International Federation for Choral Music in 1990.




Since its inception, World Choral Day has united choirs worldwide, with millions of singers participating annually in concerts around the second Sunday of December.

This year, the Philippines’ observance coincided with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, amplifying the spirit of unity and celebration.

The Cebu celebration showcased the talents of choral ensembles representing the region’s premier institutions. Among the performers were Koro Teknoy from Cebu Institute of Technology – University, Huni Habagat from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, CTU Choristers from Cebu Technological University, and the CNU Chorale from Cebu Normal University.

Joining them were the UP Serenata of the University of the Philippines Cebu, the UC Chorus of the University of Cebu, Salazar Singing Ambassadors from Salazar Institute of Technology, and Los Cantantes de Cebu.

Each group brought its unique style and vocal artistry, captivating audiences with renditions that ranged from traditional hymns to contemporary choral pieces. The performances celebrated the power of music to bridge cultures, foster unity, and inspire communities.

World Choral Day at SM Seaside City Cebu highlighted the cultural richness of Cebu’s music scene while aligning with the global choral movement’s mission of promoting peace, solidarity, and understanding through the universal language of song.

The event underscored Cebu’s vibrant musical heritage and its contribution to the broader tapestry of choral music worldwide.
