MANILA, Philippines — Borromeo Motoring Group has tapped COREnergy as its retail electricity supplier for 20 dealerships and automotive facilities in Luzon, as the company seeks to manage energy costs across its growing network.
The agreement covers sites with a combined contracted capacity of about 1.22 megawatts under the Department of Energy’s Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), according to a statement.
The facilities are expected to complete their transition by September, representing the first phase of a broader energy management initiative across Borromeo Motoring Group’s dealership network.
“At Borromeo Motoring Group, we continuously look for opportunities to improve efficiency across our operations,” said Andre Borromeo, director of Borromeo Motoring Group.
“As our dealership network grows, energy management becomes increasingly important in supporting day-to-day operations and delivering a consistent customer service experience,” he added.
Borromeo Motoring Group operates dealerships representing automotive and motorcycle brands including Ford, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Honda, Suzuki, Hyundai and Yamaha.
Electricity demand across the group’s facilities extends beyond showrooms to service centers, diagnostic equipment, parts storage, administrative offices and other customer-facing operations.
Under the agreement, COREnergy, the retail energy arm of Vivant Corp., will supply electricity to the participating sites through the RAP.
The government program allows multiple electricity end-users within the same franchise area to aggregate their demand to meet the threshold for participation in the competitive retail electricity market.
COREnergy Vice President and Head of Operations Marko Sarmiento said energy management was becoming increasingly important as automotive dealerships expand the range and complexity of their operations.
“Automotive dealerships today are complex operational environments that support sales, service, parts distribution, and customer experience under one roof,” Sarmiento said.
The deal also expands the commercial relationship between Cebu-based business groups linked to the Borromeo and Garcia-Sarmiento families, which have longstanding ties in the province’s business community.
COREnergy provides energy solutions to commercial and industrial customers and forms part of Vivant’s energy business. The company has been expanding its presence in the competitive retail electricity market as Philippine businesses seek greater control over electricity sourcing and costs.
