CEBU CITY — The Municipality of Carmen in northern Cebu will host an inter-barangay boxing tournament on August 16 at the Carmen Gym, featuring local fighters and exhibition bouts by professional boxers.
The event, called “Fist to Fist at Carmen,” is being organized by Elite Pinoy Boxing Lineup Cebu in partnership with the municipal government and Dot TV Sports.
Organizers said the tournament is intended to promote grassroots boxing and give aspiring fighters an opportunity to compete before a wider audience.
A memorandum of agreement covering the event was signed by Carmen Councilor Rashid Bejoc Tacocong, chairman of the council’s committee on sports, and Dot TV chief executive Juniño Padilla.
The event has the support of Carmen Mayor Carlo Mariano T. Villamor. The signing was witnessed by Bonel Balingit, Dot TV’s network executive for sports and a representative of EPBL Cebu.
Aside from the inter-barangay matches, the event will include exhibition performances involving professional boxers.
The tournament will be broadcast live over DYCM AM and DYCM FM and streamed on the DotTV Nationwide Facebook page and YouTube channel. A replay will also air on Cignal TV Channel 107.
