CEBU, Philippines — SM is expanding its integrated developments in Cebu as the property group seeks to strengthen the province’s position as a hub for tourism, education, business events and entertainment while supporting regional economic growth.
SM said its developments combine retail, hospitality, education, entertainment and commercial facilities into connected destinations designed to generate investments, create jobs, and support local businesses.
Its strategy, SM added, comes as Cebu continues to emerge as one of the Philippines’ fastest-growing regional economies, with projects spanning Metro Cebu’s key commercial districts.
Among its flagship developments, SM City Cebu continues to serve as one of the city’s retail anchors, supported by the presence of National University Cebu within the integrated complex.
In nearby Mandaue City, SM J Mall is positioning itself as a lifestyle destination along the A.S. Fortuna commercial corridor, while SM Seaside City Cebu is expanding its waterfront development with shopping, dining, entertainment and recreational attractions.
The company is also betting on large-scale tourism and business infrastructure to attract more domestic and international visitors.
SM said the SM Seaside Cebu Arena is expected to host international concerts, sporting events and other major productions, while the upcoming SMX Convention Center at the South Road Properties will support the province’s meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry.
The development will be complemented by the dual-branded Park Inn by Radisson and Radisson Hotel Cebu, creating an integrated district where visitors can stay, meet, shop and access entertainment within a single location.
The company said the developments are part of its long-term strategy to integrate retail, education, tourism and hospitality into a connected ecosystem that enhances Cebu’s competitiveness and supports sustainable regional development.
