Alona Beach in Panglao, Bohol has been named among the Philippines’ top 10 beaches by travel publication Travel and Tour World, providing another boost to one of the country’s fastest-growing tourism destinations.
The publication ranked Alona Beach eighth, citing its white sand, clear waters, diving sites, beachfront resorts and dining scene. The recognition reinforces Bohol’s position as a leading leisure destination for both domestic and international travelers.
Airport operator Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corp. said the recognition comes as Bohol-Panglao International Airport continues to expand connectivity to the island, offering domestic services from Manila, Clark, Davao and Iloilo, alongside international flights from Incheon and Busan in South Korea.
The airport serves as the main gateway to Bohol’s tourism attractions, including the Chocolate Hills, Loboc River, the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary and the island’s heritage churches, in addition to Panglao’s beaches and diving destinations.
Operated by Aboitiz InfraCapital, Bohol-Panglao International Airport is the Philippines’ first eco-airport and forms part of the group’s growing airport portfolio, which also includes Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Laguindingan International Airport.
The recognition comes as the Aboitiz Group continues to expand its aviation infrastructure business following the privatization of several regional airports. The company has been investing in airport modernization, passenger experience and route development as it seeks to support tourism and regional economic growth.
Bohol has remained one of the country’s top tourist destinations, with Panglao serving as the province’s primary beach tourism hub. Improved air connectivity has helped attract both domestic vacationers and international visitors, particularly from South Korea, one of the Philippines’ largest inbound tourism markets.
Travel and Tour World said Alona Beach was recognized for its powdery shoreline, marine biodiversity and vibrant tourism offerings, adding to Bohol’s reputation as one of the country’s premier island destinations.
