The Philippines’ expanding e-commerce industry is entering a more mature stage of development, prompting the launch of a new national platform aimed at helping businesses strengthen their digital operations as the market continues to grow.
Organizers officially launched the E-Commerce Expo Philippines (ECOMEX) 2026, a business-to-business event that will bring together government agencies, technology providers, logistics firms, fintech companies, marketplaces, investors and entrepreneurs as companies adapt to the changing demands of online commerce.
Scheduled for Nov. 20-21 at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City, the event is expected to attract more than 5,000 entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders, alongside over 130 exhibitors representing technology, payments, logistics, digital marketing and artificial intelligence solutions.
The launch comes as the Philippine e-commerce market is projected to expand from about $20 billion in 2026 to nearly $38 billion by 2031, driven by rising digital adoption, mobile commerce, improved logistics infrastructure and government initiatives supporting digital transformation.
“The challenge is no longer simply how to sell online, but how to acquire, convert, fulfill and retain customers,” said Trixie Esguerra-Abrenilla, founder of ECOMEX and chief executive of Philippine SME Business Expo (PHILSME). She said the platform was created to connect businesses with technology providers, financiers, educators and strategic partners needed to scale their operations.
Unlike traditional trade exhibitions, ECOMEX aims to provide entrepreneurs with practical solutions covering the full digital commerce ecosystem, including payments, logistics, AI tools, digital marketing and business financing.
In a recorded keynote address, Department of Trade and Industry E-Commerce Bureau Director Eryl Royce Nagtalon said collaboration between government, businesses and consumers would be critical to sustaining the country’s digital economy.
“Maintaining a safe and reliable e-commerce environment is a shared responsibility,” Nagtalon said, adding that strengthening trust in online transactions would encourage more Filipino enterprises to embrace digital commerce and compete in an increasingly connected economy.
Digital entrepreneur Reymond “Boss RDR” Delos Reyes described e-commerce as “the dark horse of the Philippine economy,” saying many traditional businesses have successfully expanded by combining digital platforms, content creation and community building.
Meanwhile, entrepreneur and financial educator Chinkee Tan said businesses must focus on building trusted brands rather than simply selling products as competition intensifies online.
“People buy brands. They don’t only buy products,” Tan said, encouraging entrepreneurs to invest in continuous learning and industry networking to remain competitive.
Organized by MediaTrix Solutions Inc. and powered by PHILSME, ECOMEX is positioned as a long-term industry platform bringing together government agencies, technology companies, logistics providers, fintech firms, investors and business organizations to strengthen the country’s digital commerce ecosystem and improve the competitiveness of Philippine businesses in regional and global markets.
