CIE British School has launched a Filipino National Grant aimed at making internationally recognized education more accessible to local students, as the institution seeks to reinforce Cebu’s position as a growing hub for international education.
The grant will provide tuition assistance to qualified Filipino students, helping families access an international curriculum without sending their children overseas.
The school said the initiative is designed to expand opportunities for Filipino learners while supporting Cebu’s appeal as a destination for globally benchmarked education.
“For many Filipino families, international education has long been viewed as an aspiration,” CIE British School said, adding that the grant aims to bridge that gap by making globally recognized education more attainable within the Philippines.
Prof. Nelia Cruz Sarcol, president and chief executive officer of CIE Global Colleges, said the initiative reflects the school’s commitment to broadening educational access.
“At CIE, we believe every Filipino learner deserves access to an education that opens doors beyond borders,” Sarcol said.
“The Filipino National Grant reflects our commitment not only to making international education more attainable for Filipino families, but also to strengthening Cebu’s role as a destination for globally recognized education.”
Students enrolled under the program will study in an international learning environment focused on critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and leadership, with curricula aligned to global standards, the school said.
Founded in 1983, CIE British School operates campuses in Cebu, Makati and Tacloban.
The institution describes itself as the Philippines’ first Cambridge International School and is a member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and the European Council of International Schools (ECIS).
The launch comes as Cebu continues to attract investment in education, with both local and international institutions expanding their presence in the province to serve growing demand for globally recognized academic programs.
