Philippines: SM Seaside Cebu Arena Set to Transform Cebu’s Entertainment Scene

The arena is directly connected to SM Seaside City Cebu through a dedicated bridgeway, allowing visitors to seamlessly combine shopping, dining, and live entertainment in a single destination.

CEBU CITY — The newly completed SM Seaside Cebu Arena is set to elevate Cebu’s status as a premier destination for concerts, sporting events, and large-scale entertainment, while generating new opportunities for tourism and local businesses across the Visayas.

Located within the South Coast City development along the South Road Properties (SRP), the arena is directly connected to SM Seaside City Cebu through a dedicated bridgeway, allowing visitors to seamlessly combine shopping, dining, and live entertainment in a single destination.

SM Supermalls said the venue builds on its experience in developing world-class entertainment destinations in Metro Manila and brings the same integrated concept closer to audiences in Central Philippines.

“Cebu has always been a place of immense potential, and our goal has been to create destinations that grow with the communities around them,” said Steven Tan, president of SM Supermalls.

“Beyond providing spaces for retail and entertainment, we want to build platforms where people can connect, businesses can thrive, and new opportunities can emerge,” he added.

Designed to host international concerts, sporting events, conventions, and other large-scale productions, the SM Seaside Cebu Arena is expected to strengthen Cebu’s capacity to attract major events that previously would have been held primarily in Metro Manila.

Beyond entertainment, SM said the arena is expected to create a ripple effect across the local economy. Hotels, restaurants, transport providers, retailers, entrepreneurs, and other service businesses stand to benefit as more visitors travel to Cebu for concerts, competitions, and special events.

The company added that the arena complements the continued expansion of its Cebu portfolio, which includes SM City Cebu, SM Seaside City Cebu, and SM J Mall. Together, these developments aim to reinforce Cebu’s position as one of the country’s leading centers for tourism, business, and culture.

SM said the arena is more than just an entertainment venue—it is intended to serve as a catalyst for investment, job creation, increased business activity, and long-term economic growth across Cebu and the wider Visayas.
