Cebu-based retailer Prince Warehouse Inc. has partnered with COREnergy, the retail electricity supplier under Vivant Energy, as it looks to improve energy efficiency and manage long-term power costs across its nationwide operations.
The partnership will allow Prince Warehouse to source electricity more strategically, as businesses in the Philippines gain wider access to alternative power suppliers under the government’s Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) framework.
The company said the arrangement is aimed at helping support store productivity, operational efficiency and sustainability goals, while giving the retailer more flexibility in matching its energy needs with business growth.
“To remain relevant and responsive to our customers, we continue to rethink how we operate. Energy plays a critical role in keeping our stores efficient and resilient,” Blake Nelson Go, vice president for business development and finance at Prince Warehouse, said in a statement.
“Partnering with COREnergy allows us to make more informed energy decisions that support our growth, while maintaining reliable service for our customers,” he added.
The deal comes as more commercial and industrial power users qualify to choose their electricity supplier after recent policy changes lowered the threshold for participation in the RCOA program to 100 kilowatts peak demand.
That change allows more businesses to move beyond their traditional distribution utility and contract directly with licensed retail electricity suppliers such as COREnergy.
Vivant Energy said the partnership reflects its push to help businesses manage power supply more efficiently while incorporating sustainability considerations into long-term planning.
Prince Warehouse, which started in Cebu and has expanded nationwide, joins a growing number of companies seeking more control over energy sourcing as firms face rising pressure to improve profitability and resilience.
COREnergy said it continues to work with commercial customers looking for “smarter” energy solutions as competition in the power retail market broadens.
