Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce Partners with Lestango to Expand Thai Products in Middle East

Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with New Tech Al Hadiza Gen Trading, the parent company of the leading e-commerce platform Lestango.com.

The agreement, formalized at the International Live Commerce Expo 2024 held at Samyan Mitrtown in Bangkok, aims to enhance the presence of high-potential Thai products in Middle Eastern markets.

The collaboration leverages Lestango’s established platform to serve as a key gateway for Thai businesses seeking to showcase their products to consumers across the Middle East.

This strategic partnership is part of the Ministry’s broader initiative to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in expanding their reach to international markets.

The International Live Commerce Expo 2024, which took place from September 25 to 29, attracted significant attention from both local and international buyers and sellers.

Chinese Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) played a pivotal role in the event by live-streaming product showcases and facilitating sales of Thai goods from the first day, broadcasting daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Over the five-day period, more than 60 live sessions were conducted, featuring a diverse array of products and generating substantial consumer engagement.

During the expo, KOLs visited 114 Thai product booths, creating promotional video content aimed at penetrating the Chinese and broader Asian markets. This extensive live-streaming effort resulted in heightened visibility for Thai products, contributing to the event’s overall success.

In addition to live-streaming activities, the expo facilitated business negotiations between Thai entrepreneurs and international buyers, fostering sustainable trade opportunities. Discussions covered various product categories, including consumer goods, fashion items, and health products, highlighting areas where Thai offerings hold significant global potential.

The event also featured expert-led seminars and panel discussions focused on e-commerce and international trade. These sessions provided participants with valuable insights into global market trends and strategies for adapting to rapidly evolving environments. The knowledge shared is expected to equip Thai businesses with the necessary tools to successfully expand their operations internationally.

The Ministry of Commerce expressed optimism that the partnership with Lestango will drive further growth and internationalization of Thai products, reinforcing Thailand’s position in the global e-commerce landscape. Moving forward, the Ministry plans to continue collaborating with influential global partners to sustain and expand live commerce initiatives, particularly in emerging markets like the Middle East.
