Malaysia’s Securities Commission (SC) has appointed Kamal Azira Hassan and Adnan Zaylani Mohamad Zahid as new board members for a two-year term, the regulator said on Monday.
The appointments were made by the Minister of Finance. The SC board oversees the commission’s overall governance, including its regulatory and developmental mandates.
Kamal Azira brings more than 25 years of experience spanning public, constitutional and administrative law, government litigation, international legal affairs, financial governance and regulatory advisory, the SC said.
He has served across government agencies including the Attorney General’s Chambers and the Prime Minister’s Department, and holds law degrees from the International Islamic University Malaysia.
Adnan Zaylani is a deputy governor at Bank Negara Malaysia overseeing financial markets and development.
He has more than 30 years of experience in managing international reserves and other public sector funds, and has been involved in financial sector development policies, the SC said.
He sits on the central bank’s Monetary Policy and Financial Stability committees and has contributed to initiatives including the Financial Sector Blueprint 2022-2026.
Both appointees will serve until Feb. 14, 2028. SC chairman Mohammad Faiz Azmi said their expertise would strengthen the board’s work in supporting a robust, fair and orderly capital market.
