PHILIPPINES — Vivant Energy, the power arm of Cebu-based conglomerate Vivant Corp., has secured a 15-year power supply agreement (PSA) with the Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative (PROSIELCO) to provide additional electricity for the island province, the company said.
The agreement was signed on Dec. 30 following a Competitive Selection Process (CSP) conducted by PROSIELCO, Vivant Energy said. Under the deal, Vivant Energy will contract a total capacity of 11 megawatts (MW) from its diesel power facility in Barangay Bogo, Maria, Siquijor.
The supply will serve the municipalities of Larena, Lazi, Maria, San Juan, Enrique Villanueva, and Siquijor, according to the company.
PROSIELCO General Manager Glenn Galvan said the cooperative expects the partnership to improve power stability for households and businesses once the facility is completed.
“We are excited about this partnership, and we are hopeful that upon completion of the power plant, households and businesses will gain access to stable and dependable electricity,” Galvan said.
Siquijor’s power reliability has been under scrutiny after the province was placed under a state of calamity in June 2025, with residents and businesses experiencing outages lasting up to 20 hours a day at the height of the crisis, according to the company’s background note.
The disruptions hit tourism and essential services, it added.
Vivant Energy Vice President for Off-Grid Solutions Eric Omamalin said the firm has been prioritising areas that are “largely underserved.”
“We believe progress starts where the grid ends,” Omamalin said, adding that the company aims to deliver solutions that improve everyday living.
Siquijor has been positioning itself as an emerging tourism destination, and reliable electricity is seen as critical to sustaining economic activity.
The province led the Negros Island Region in GDP growth in 2024 at 7.9%, reaching P13.78 billion, up from P12.77 billion in 2023, the company said.
Vivant Energy said it operates across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, with investments spanning distribution, generation, retail electricity and engineering solutions.
