DHL Express Appoints Karen Tan as Asia-Pacific CIO

Tan will oversee IT infrastructure, digital acceleration and cybersecurity strategy across a network spanning over 40 countries and territories in the region.

DHL Express said it has appointed Karen Tan as Chief Information Officer for the Asia-Pacific region, replacing Jimmy Yeoh who will retire after 33 years with the company.

Based in Singapore, Tan will oversee IT infrastructure, digital acceleration and cybersecurity strategy across a network spanning over 40 countries and territories in the region, DHL Express said in a statement.

Tan previously served as CIO for DHL Express Singapore, where she led nationwide digitalization initiatives and strengthened data protection practices.

She also held roles as the company’s Data Protection Officer Champion and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Champion.

“A robust IT strategy will empower us to become more agile, reliable and resilient,” said Ken Lee, CEO for Asia Pacific at DHL Express, adding that digitalization remains a key trend impacting the logistics industry.

The appointment comes as DHL Group pursues its Strategy 2030, which emphasizes digital innovation to enhance customer experience across its operations.

Tan began her career with DHL Express in 1990 as a customer service trainer and has held various roles across IT, commercial and operations functions.

From 2014, she served as Vice President of Operations Programs for Asia Pacific before taking the Singapore CIO role in 2021.

“Asia Pacific is a dynamic and diverse region, and I am honored to take on this role,” Tan said, noting the growing complexity of digital ecosystems and cybersecurity challenges.

DHL Express, part of DHL Group, operates in more than 220 countries and territories with about 400,000 employees globally.

The group generated revenues of more than 84.2 billion euros ($93.5 billion) in 2024 and aims to achieve net-zero emissions logistics by 2050.

Yeoh will retire at the end of 2025 after more than three decades with the organization.
