The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) launched a S$2 million ($1.5 million) Career Support Programme to help jobseekers and mid-career workers move into the accountancy profession, as demand for finance professionals grows in the city-state’s digital and sustainable economy.
Unveiled by Minister Indranee Rajah at ISCA’s annual dinner, the scheme offers membership fee waivers, training support and access to an AI-enabled talent marketplace developed with the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) and Workforce Singapore (WSG).
The programme allows participants to train under a “Skills First, Pay Later” model, with fees due only after securing employment.
The AI marketplace, which went live in July, has so far listed more than 100 roles from 28 employers, ranging from sustainability and artificial intelligence consultancy to traditional accounting.
“AI will fundamentally reshape the accountancy sector and fuel demand for accountants with new skills to thrive in the digital economy,” ISCA president Teo Ser Luck said in a statement.
WSG chief executive Dilys Boey said the initiative combines ISCA’s industry expertise with WSG’s career advisory services, creating more pathways into the profession.
The move comes as Singapore prepares for technology-driven labour shifts. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 projects that 170 million new jobs will be created globally this decade, while 92 million roles could be displaced, with AI and data skills among the fastest-growing.
ISCA, which represents over 40,000 members, said the programme forms part of its S$2 million “AI for Accountancy Industry” initiative to help firms and professionals adopt artificial intelligence in audit, non-audit and commercial sectors.
