It also took down 2,785 illegal gambling sites that posed financial fraud risks to users.

Philippine telecommunications company Globe Telecom Inc blocked more than 484 million scam and spam messages in the first half of 2025 as part of its cybersecurity efforts, the company said.

Globe also shut down 5,707 domains linked to child exploitation and other harmful content during the six-month period, according to a company statement.

The telecommunications provider took down 2,785 illegal gambling sites that posed financial fraud risks to users, Globe said.

“People just want to feel safe when they go online,” said Anton Bonifacio, Globe’s Chief Information Security Officer. “Our job is to make sure they can. We don’t wait for problems to escalate. We intercept threats early, work with global partners, and build smarter defenses into every part of our network.”

Globe’s StopSpam portal processed 87,624 SIM reports in the first half, resulting in the deactivation of 9,961 SIMs on Globe’s network and blacklisting of 77,065 SIMs from other networks, the company said.

The company’s filtering system blocked 248,552 URLs containing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials, including 8,385 URLs with non-photographic images.

Globe said these efforts support enforcement of the Anti-Child Pornography Act and are coordinated with local authorities and international organizations including the Internet Watch Foundation and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.

The figures follow Globe’s blocking of over 414,544 malicious URLs across its network in 2024.

Globe operates its cybersecurity initiatives under its #MakeITSafePH campaign, collaborating with government, law enforcement, and technology industry partners to combat cybercriminal operations.

“Our mission is simple,” Bonifacio said. “Protect every customer. Every day, any day! No shortcuts.”
