Japan’s ambassador to the Philippines met with the country’s environment secretary on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation on environmental protection and sustainable development.
Ambassador Endo Kazuya held talks with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla at the ministry’s headquarters in Quezon City on August 5.
Endo congratulated Lotilla on his recent appointment as environment secretary and thanked him for his previous cooperation with Japan during his tenure as energy secretary, according to a Japanese embassy statement.
The ambassador reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting the Philippines in advancing its environmental protection and sustainable development goals.
The two officials discussed waste-to-energy initiatives, climate change mitigation, and renewable resource development during their meeting.
They explored potential areas for enhanced bilateral collaboration to address shared environmental challenges and promote green growth.
Lotilla welcomed Japan’s ongoing support and emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to achieve shared environmental goals, the embassy said.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the environmental sector, building on the long-standing partnership between Japan and the Philippines.
