Singapore’s SG Enviro Secures $8M for SE Asian Wastewater Treatment Expansion

The investment will fuel SG Enviro's expansion into Malaysia, Indonesia and other regional markets.

Singapore-based industrial wastewater treatment company SG Enviro has secured $8 million in funding from climate-tech venture capital firm Emerald Technology Ventures to expand operations across Southeast Asia.

The investment will fuel SG Enviro’s expansion into Malaysia, Indonesia and other regional markets where demand for industrial wastewater treatment infrastructure is growing rapidly.

Founded in 2018 by environmental engineer Guah Eng Hock, SG Enviro specializes in advanced oxidation processes for industrial wastewater treatment using an Engineering, Procurement and Construction approach.

The company integrates proprietary technologies to address clients’ wastewater challenges while reducing environmental impact.

“This investment marks a significant milestone for us,” said Guah, who serves as CEO. “It validates our belief that industrial water treatment in Asia requires region-specific, practical engineering.”

The company has established a track record with notable projects including a large-scale advanced oxidation process deployment at a Singapore oil storage facility, treating thousands of cubic meters of phenol-laden wastewater daily.

SG Enviro has also secured contracts for retrofitting biogas wastewater systems at livestock farms and providing ongoing maintenance services, creating recurring revenue streams.

Dr. Helge Daebel, Head of Emerald’s Water Practice and new SG Enviro board member, said the investment aligns with Emerald’s strategy of fostering collaborations among portfolio companies to accelerate sustainable technology adoption.

“We look forward to connecting our global portfolio of water tech entrepreneurs with SG Enviro’s strong execution and operation capabilities,” Daebel said. “Together, we can bring world-class solutions to Southeast Asia’s industries – where the need for water resilience has never been more urgent.”

The partnership will enable SG Enviro to access Emerald’s global network of water technology companies while providing these firms entry into Southeast Asian markets through an established regional partner.
