Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), announced it will welcome its third and fourth Embraer E190-E2 aircraft in September and October 2024.
The new additions, named Jalan-Jalan and Travel Kaki, respectively, will enable Scoot to expand its flight services to new destinations in Southeast Asia.
The airline will commence twice-weekly flights to Kertajati, Indonesia, starting on September 28, 2024, and five-times weekly flights to Malacca, Malaysia, beginning on October 23, 2024.
Kertajati, known for its lush forests, natural waterfalls, and captivating wildlife, offers an alternative destination for nature enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, Malacca, a UNESCO World Heritage city, provides travelers with a rich heritage of Peranakan culture and historical landmarks.
In addition to the new destinations, Scoot will deploy the E190-E2s on existing routes. This includes twice-weekly flights to Pekanbaru, complementing the current thrice-weekly flights on Airbus A320 aircraft.
The airline will also increase flight frequencies to Balikpapan and Makassar to four-times weekly starting in October 2024.
From November 2024, flights to Davao will increase to nine-times weekly, and from December 2024, flights to Vientiane will rise to four-times weekly.
The expansion follows Scoot’s recent announcement of Subang, Malaysia, as a new destination effective September 1, 2024. Subang, located 28 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur, offers an alternative gateway to the Malaysian capital.
By October 2024, Scoot will operate 78 weekly flights to Indonesia and 115 weekly flights to Malaysia.
The airline will also increase its flights to the Philippines to 37 weekly by November 2024 and to Laos to four weekly by December 2024.
With these additions, Scoot’s network will expand to 72 destinations, reinforcing Singapore’s status as a regional air hub.
Leslie Thng, Scoot’s CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion.
“We are excited to announce the addition of Kertajati and Malacca to our growing network. Since the launch of our E190-E2 aircraft in May, we have seen strong demand for our flights across Southeast Asia. We remain confident in the demand for air travel and invite our customers to ‘Jalan-Jalan’ and explore new destinations with their ‘Travel Kakis’,” he said.
Flights to Kertajati and Malacca are available for booking starting today through Scoot’s website, mobile app, and other channels. All-in Economy class fares start from SGD 92 to Kertajati and SGD 69 to Malacca, inclusive of taxes.
Flight schedules are subject to government and regulatory approvals.
