US-based enterprise technology firm Kyndryl has launched its ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore to support responsible and scalable artificial intelligence (AI) adoption across Southeast Asia.
The new lab will serve as a regional hub for AI development, offering advanced enterprise-grade AI solutions with built-in security and governance features.
It marks Kyndryl’s latest investment in AI innovation, following similar moves in the United Kingdom and France.
Designed to help businesses operationalize AI, the lab will focus on integrating AI with software, platform engineering, and consulting capabilities through Kyndryl Consult.
It will also offer co-creation opportunities via Kyndryl Vital, enabling customers to address real-world business challenges using design-led approaches.
Approximately 50 local AI professionals—including data scientists, engineers, and developers—will staff the lab.
The facility will showcase responsible AI use cases and live demonstrations to help organizations understand and adopt trustworthy AI technologies.
Kyndryl has partnered with Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) and Google Cloud to accelerate AI transformation under Singapore’s Enterprise Compute Initiative.
As a launch partner, Google Cloud will provide access to its Vertex AI, BigQuery, and agent development tools to support solution development.
The lab will also work with Singapore’s universities and research institutions to develop AI talent and build reusable frameworks and services.
Emphasis will be placed on sustainability, with solutions designed to reduce carbon footprints and optimize computing costs.
Kyndryl’s People Readiness Report 2025 highlighted a growing gap between AI investment and workforce readiness in the region, with most businesses struggling to align talent with AI transformation goals.
The new facility supports Singapore’s ambitions to become a global AI hub and aims to meet rising demand for AI infrastructure and skills across Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
