Globe Telecom has donated ten refurbished laptops to barangays across Bohol as part of its digital inclusion program aimed at empowering grassroots governance and advancing eGovernance in local communities.
The donation, made under Globe’s sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives, is intended to support the Lupon Tagapamayapa—a barangay-level body responsible for community dispute resolution.
The laptops will replace manual typewriters, enabling the Lupon to shift to digital record-keeping, reduce clerical errors, and streamline communication through electronic document handling.
The ceremonial handover took place at the Bohol Provincial Capitol in Tagbilaran City, attended by provincial and barangay officials including Board Members Benjie Arcamo and Aldner Damalerio, Liga ng mga Barangay President Romulo Cepedoza, and Globe Vice President for External Affairs Patrick Gloria.
“This initiative is part of Globe’s ongoing efforts to create a #GlobeOfGood by enabling communities through technology. We recognize the vital role of the Lupon Tagapamayapa in maintaining peace and order at the grassroots level, and we are proud to support them with tools that improve access, accuracy, and efficiency,” said Gloria.
The barangays receiving the laptops include San Isidro in Tagbilaran City; Sto. Rosario in Antequera; Guiwanon in Tubigon; Canapnapan in Corella; Dangay in Albur; Sta. Cruz in Calape; Cogon Norte in Loon; Magsija in Balilihan; Triple Union in Catigbian; and the Municipality of Cortes.
The initiative aligns with Bohol’s Strategic Change Agenda under Governor Aris Aumentado, which promotes digital transformation and sustainability within the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark framework.
By deploying refurbished laptops, Globe also advances its e-waste reduction efforts while extending the lifecycle of digital devices.
Globe said the program contributes to building resilient communities by improving access to digital tools and formalizing grassroots governance processes.
The project is part of its broader commitment to supporting inclusive development through technology, particularly in underserved and remote areas of the Philippines.
