Peak Energy Acquires 11MW of High-Voltage Solar Projects in Japan

Singapore-headquartered renewable energy firm Peak Energy has acquired 11 megawatts (MW) of ready-to-build high-voltage solar projects across four regions in Japan as part of its continued expansion in the country’s clean energy market.

The projects, located in Chubu, Chugoku, Hokkaido, and Kansai, are scheduled for completion in 2027 and are expected to generate more than 13 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable electricity annually.

The output is estimated to reduce nearly 6,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year, equivalent to removing about 2,000 cars from the road.

Electricity from the projects will be sold to corporate clients under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with fixed rates, offering customers cost savings and protection from energy price volatility over the next two decades.

The acquisition adds to Peak Energy’s growing presence in Japan, where it already co-owns a 28MW solar plant in Kyushu.

The company is also scaling its footprint in solar-plus-storage systems, with operations covering onsite and offsite solar installations and integrated battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Across Asia-Pacific, Peak Energy owns more than 200MW of solar assets that are operational or under construction, along with 298 megawatt-hours (MWh) of BESS capacity either in service or being built.

The transaction underscores Peak Energy’s commitment to supporting Japan’s clean energy transition amid a slow rollout of large-scale solar projects.

The company is aiming to supply more corporate users with renewable power in the coming years as part of its mission to deliver affordable and reliable green energy solutions.

Peak Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of Stonepeak, an infrastructure-focused investment firm managing approximately $73 billion in assets globally.
