OYO Expands Premium Brand ‘SUNDAY Hotels’ to Malaysia with Dual Launch

KUALA LUMPUR – India-based hospitality tech firm OYO has launched its luxury hotel brand, SUNDAY Hotels, in Malaysia with the opening of two properties in Kuala Lumpur and Pantai Cenang, Langkawi.

The move signals the start of a broader push into Southeast Asia’s premium hospitality segment, with plans to roll out ten additional SUNDAY Hotels across Malaysia in 2025.

The expansion targets major tourist destinations including Johor Bahru, Penang Island, Kuantan, and Kota Kinabalu.

The SUNDAY brand, launched in India in May 2023 through a joint venture between SoftBank and Oravel Stays, currently operates three properties in India and is expected to reach 25 by March 2025.

Positioned as a premium offering, SUNDAY Hotels caters to modern travelers seeking curated luxury experiences, combining contemporary design with upscale amenities.

OYO aims to differentiate the brand from traditional hotel formats by offering experiential stays that promote relaxation and personalized service.

The Malaysian debut follows earlier international launches in Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Dubai, as OYO looks to strengthen its global premium portfolio.

The company said the move aligns with its ongoing strategy to expand in high-growth hospitality markets and address rising demand for luxury accommodations.

OYO, which operates over 170,000 hotel and home storefronts across more than 35 countries, is leveraging its proprietary technology platform to streamline operations and enhance customer experience across the SUNDAY Hotels portfolio.

The rollout in Malaysia reinforces the company’s focus on enabling local partners to attract a new segment of travelers while maintaining global hospitality standards.
