Pan-Asian data center operator Digital Edge and Thailand-based energy firm B.Grimm Power have announced a $1 billion joint venture to develop hyperscale and AI-ready data center campuses across Thailand, beginning with a 100-megawatt facility in Chonburi province.
The partnership, operating as Digital Edge B.Grimm (TH) Holdings Pte. Ltd., aims to capitalize on rising demand for high-density digital infrastructure driven by surging data consumption, AI workloads, and cloud services.
The flagship site in Chonburi, part of Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), has secured approval from the Thailand Board of Investment and is expected to go live by the fourth quarter of 2026.
The Chonburi campus will offer colocation, interconnection, and hybrid cloud services tailored for hyperscalers and enterprise clients seeking scalable and energy-efficient AI infrastructure in Southeast Asia.
Fast-tracked construction is intended to address growing regional demand amid intensified competition in the digital infrastructure market.
Thailand is emerging as a regional technology hub, supported by government incentives totaling more than $2.7 billion for cloud and data center investments.
Industry estimates project the country’s data center market to grow at over 25% CAGR through 2030, driven largely by AI and machine learning applications.
Digital Edge, backed by global infrastructure investor Stonepeak, operates a network of 24 data centers across nine Asia-Pacific markets, with more than 1.1 gigawatts of secured IT power.
The company said the Thailand expansion is aligned with its strategy to bridge infrastructure gaps in emerging digital economies.
B.Grimm Power, one of Thailand’s largest private power producers, brings renewable energy expertise and land resources to the joint venture.
The company is supporting the initiative through its long-term plan to increase renewable energy to over 50% of its portfolio by 2030. Natixis is acting as exclusive financial advisor to B.Grimm for the transaction.
