Philippines Showcases Culture, Creativity at National Day Celebration During Expo 2025 Osaka

The Philippines marked its official National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka with a vibrant showcase of cultural pride, community participation, and artistic expression, highlighting its theme of unity through creativity and heritage.

Organized by the Philippine Organizing Committee, the celebration was spearheaded by the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Promotions Board in partnership with the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The day featured a community parade, dignitary-led ceremonies, and a curated cultural performance that drew a wide international audience.

The festivities opened with a colorful procession by members of the Filipino community in Japan, clad in traditional attire and dancing to ethnic rhythms.

The event set a celebratory tone, reinforcing the Expo’s focus on global collaboration and cultural exchange.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco and TPB COO Marga Nograles led the formal ceremonies at Ray Garden’s National Day Hall, joined by Japanese officials and delegates from other participating countries.

Officials emphasized the Philippines’ commitment to promoting cultural diplomacy and regional cooperation through its participation in the global exposition.

The Philippine Pavilion, located in the “Empowering Lives” zone, has gained attention for its interactive, multisensory experiences and a unique performance façade made from 212 handwoven textiles.

Inside, visitors are treated to 18 regionally inspired woven artworks, digital installations, and daily performances that reflect Filipino life and heritage.

The cultural performance, titled Hinabing Hiraya (Woven Imagination), was staged in three suites—honoring indigenous traditions, national artists, and the aspirations of future generations.

Featured performers included Lumad Basakanon, UPeepz, singer Zephanie, and the Loboc Children’s Choir.

Programming for the Philippines’ National Week continues through June 12, offering daily exhibitions, performances, and engagements designed to showcase the country’s identity beyond tourism.

The Philippine delegation invited global visitors to experience not just the pavilion, but the spirit of the Filipino people.
