uangxi’s Baise City has launched a series of cross-border cultural activities as part of the 2025 “Year of China-Vietnam Cultural Exchanges” and to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The events aimed to deepen people-to-people ties, particularly among the younger generation, and reinforce the longstanding “comrades and brothers” bond shared by the neighboring nations.
Located along the border with Vietnam, Baise has long served as a hub for bilateral trade and cultural interaction.
In April, a variety of activities were held in several counties under Baise’s jurisdiction, drawing residents from Vietnam’s Cao Bang Province and engaging domestic and international tourists.
In Jingxi City, the 2025 China-Vietnam Border Residents’ San Yue San Festival featured an Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition, where local traditions were displayed through folk music concerts, costume parades, and culinary showcases.
Young performers from both countries shared the stage at the Jinxiu Ancient Town opera platform, while a mountainside runway show paired Zhuang ethnic attire with Vietnamese Ao Dai dresses, creating a striking visual fusion of cultures.
Other highlights included joint food and craft exhibitions and a friendly embroidered ball-tossing competition.
In Tianlin County, Vietnamese artists performed for the first time at the opening of the Tianlin Zhuang Opera Festival, blending Vietnamese folk songs with local Zhuang mountain music to create a shared musical experience.
Napo County hosted the Guangxi San Yue San · Napo Xiangdan China-Vietnam Border Residents Gala, where artists from both sides performed traditional dances.
The county also organized a football tournament, folk singing contests, and interactive community games to encourage further cultural dialogue.
Officials say Baise will continue to build on these efforts to promote mutual understanding and serve as a key platform for advancing regional cooperation between China and Vietnam.
