Hong Kong-based insurer AIFT and Taiwan’s Shin Kong Life have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement to launch digital insurance services in Vietnam, signaling a cross-border push to develop a hybrid insurance model in Southeast Asia’s fast-growing market.
The partnership aims to integrate AIFT’s digital insurance platform, IXT, with Shin Kong Vietnam’s local distribution channels and operational expertise to create a seamless online-to-offline (O2O) ecosystem.
The collaboration is intended to initially serve Taiwanese individuals and enterprises in Vietnam, with plans to expand offerings to the broader local and regional market in later phases.
AIFT’s involvement originated through FinTechSpace Taiwan, a regulatory initiative backed by the Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission.
The firm is providing its IXT platform, a low-code SaaS solution designed to streamline insurance workflows, automate policy administration, and enhance user experience through its modular and integrative design.
At the outset, Shin Kong Vietnam has partnered with PetroVietnam Insurance (PVI), the leading general insurer in Vietnam, to roll out personal protection products including car, travel, and health insurance.
The partnership enabled a full digital insurance application experience built within three months using IXT’s pre-designed product templates and workflows.
The firms plan to expand into scenario-based, commercial, and group insurance products. Shin Kong Vietnam is also eyeing further cooperation with Dai-Ichi Life Vietnam Branch to extend its product portfolio.
To support the infrastructure, the partnership has engaged Chunghwa Telecom Vietnam Subsidiary for data center and cloud services, ensuring regulatory compliance and cybersecurity in local deployment.
The alliance underscores the growing role of Taiwanese fintech players in shaping digital insurance ecosystems in Southeast Asia, and marks a milestone in the international expansion of Taiwan’s insurtech capabilities.
