National University (NU), one of the Philippines’ oldest private universities, has opened its 13th campus in Metro Cebu as part of its ongoing nationwide expansion, coinciding with its 125th anniversary.
Located within the SM City Cebu North Wing Complex, the six-storey NU Cebu spans over 25,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 14,000 students. It is the university’s first campus in Central Visayas and the second in the Visayas region.
NU Cebu offers an industry-aligned Senior High School program and undergraduate degrees in Accountancy, Architecture, Computer Science, Tourism Management, Psychology, and Medical Technology.

The initial course offerings were selected based on an extensive survey of student interests in Cebu and regional industry demand.
“We aim to provide quality education that is both accessible and relevant,” said Johanna Minglana, Executive Director of NU Cebu. “Our teachers are skilled and fully qualified according to CHED standards, ensuring high academic standards across all programs.”
Minglana added that NU Cebu plans to introduce additional courses in the coming years to meet evolving educational needs and career demands.
With its locally hired faculty and staff, NU Cebu integrates deeply with the Cebuano community while upholding the legacy of NU’s academic excellence since 1900.
As part of the SM Group, the campus also applies the SM model of service excellence to enhance student experience.
The campus is positioning itself as a “life-ready” university, aiming to equip students with not just technical knowledge, but the values and mindset required to succeed in today’s fast-changing world.
