Tokyo-headquartered Wada FoodTech Raises $5M to Expand Hot-Chain Platform

Wada FoodTech, Tokyo-headquartered decentralized foodservice startup specializing in patented hot-chain technology, has raised $5 million in a Pre-A3 funding round co-led by MindWorks ETEC Fund and Golden Resources Development International Limited.

The latest round brings the company’s total funding to over $10 million, accelerating its expansion in premium markets like Japan, the UK, and the EU.

Founded in Hong Kong and now headquartered in Tokyo, Wada FoodTech has developed an AIoT-enabled ecosystem that powers hot-chain logistics and vending machines capable of delivering fresh, hot bentos in just nine seconds.

Its sixth-generation technology has already facilitated over one million bento sales across Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, and Macau.

“Wada FoodTech began six years ago with a free desk at a university,” said Jason Chen, CEO of Wada FoodTech. “Today, we have validated our technology and demand. This funding will accelerate our Area Master Franchising model—where patented technology is the root, franchisees are the branches, and restaurants are the fruits.”

The funds will be used to scale engineering and manufacturing capabilities in Japan, enhance AI backend systems, and drive market entry through master franchise partnerships.

Wada FoodTech holds more than 10 patents across Japan, the U.S., and China.

“We are thrilled to support Wada FoodTech as it scales globally,” said Joe Chan, Managing Director at MindWorks. “Its innovative approach resonates even in mature markets like Japan.”

Anthony Lam, CEO of Golden Resources, added, “Wada FoodTech offers a unique solution to address labor and cost challenges while ensuring consistent food quality.”

Wada’s machines are slated to launch in the UK later this year, exporting Japan-made technology to address rising labor costs and consumer demand for fast, quality meals without the overhead of traditional restaurants.
