IAG Cargo, Qatar Airways, MASkargo Set Late 2025 Launch for Global Cargo Alliance

IAG Cargo, Qatar Airways Cargo, and MASkargo announced plans to formally launch their Global Cargo Joint Business by late 2025, pending regulatory approvals.

The announcement, made at the Air Cargo Europe conference in Munich, marks a major step toward a unified air cargo network connecting Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

The partnership aims to deliver improved routing flexibility, operational efficiency, and digital innovation across their combined networks.

Customers will benefit from expanded capacity options, coordinated ground handling, and access to new trade lanes unavailable under traditional interline agreements.

“This proposed joint business represents a real step change for our customers,” said David Shepherd, CEO of IAG Cargo. “We are creating new connections that unlock commercial opportunities, while supporting humanitarian causes like the World Food Programme.”

The three carriers will integrate commercial offerings, digital tools, and loyalty programs, including a joint Avios proposition, to provide a streamlined experience.

The alliance also plans to collectively offer 1,000 tonnes of free cargo space to the UN World Food Programme (WFP) for the transport of essential supplies.

“This partnership is more than network expansion,” said Mark Jason Thomas, CEO of MASkargo. “It’s about transforming how cargo moves worldwide while reinforcing our belief that logistics can be a force for good.”

Mark Drusch, Chief Officer Cargo at Qatar Airways, added: “Together, we will deliver unparalleled service and contribute to meaningful social impact.”

WFP Deputy Director Virginia Villar Arribas said the collaboration showcases the private sector’s growing role in humanitarian logistics.

The joint business will initially focus on key markets and expand in phases. More details are expected as the partnership progresses toward its late-2025 launch.
