Converge ICT Reshuffles Leadership Team as It Shifts Toward Future-Focused Growth

Philippine broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. announced key leadership changes as the company accelerates its transformation into a technology-driven enterprise focused on sustainable growth and innovation.

During its Board of Directors organizational meeting following the Annual Stockholders’ Meeting, the company approved the retirement of Chief Operations Officer Jesus “Boboy” C. Romero, effective June 30, 2025.

Romero has served Converge for nine years, guiding the firm through its rapid expansion during the pandemic-driven surge in broadband demand.

“Boboy has seen us through the bold entry of Converge in the broadband market, to the hypergrowth years during the pandemic, and we are truly grateful,” said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy. “We look forward to continuing to have him as a supportive business partner.”

The board named Benjamin Rex Emilio B. Azada as the new COO effective July 1, 2025. Azada, who previously served as Chief Strategy Officer and more recently as Chief Commercial Officer, has been instrumental in driving the company’s revenue growth, with total revenues rising nearly 15% in 2024 and residential subscribers surpassing 2.7 million.

“As we leap into a future defined by AI, IoT, and cloud computing, we need a leader like Benj, whose strategic vision and operational depth are vital,” Uy added.

Azada will transition out of his commercial responsibilities, while Converge Corporate Compliance Officer Laurice Esteban-Tuason has been appointed Corporate Sustainability Officer. Esteban-Tuason, who was recently named Best Data Privacy Officer by the Information Security Officers Group (ISOG), will now oversee the firm’s environmental and governance commitments.

Meanwhile, Christine Renee Blabagno, Converge’s Treasurer, has been named Chief Risk Officer.

With over 25 years in financial management and risk planning expertise from her tenure in the telecom industry, Blabagno will guide the company through evolving market dynamics and operational challenges.

“These leadership changes signal a new chapter for Converge as we align our organization with our vision of becoming a full-fledged tech company,” said President and Co-Founder Maria Grace Uy. “We are laying the foundation for resilience and long-term growth.”
