Agoda, Tourism Malaysia Partner to Boost Global Appeal Ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026

Digital travel platform Agoda has signed a strategic two-year collaboration with Tourism Malaysia aimed at positioning Malaysia as a leading travel destination in Southeast Asia ahead of the country’s flagship Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

Under the Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC), the two parties will roll out a series of targeted digital marketing campaigns to promote Malaysia’s cultural heritage, natural beauty, and urban experiences to a global audience.

The initiative leverages Agoda’s digital infrastructure and global reach to spotlight the country’s wide array of tourism offerings.

“This partnership underscores Agoda’s dedication to connecting Malaysia with travellers worldwide through our innovative technology and engaging content,” said Fabian Teja, Country Director for Malaysia at Agoda. “We’re excited to showcase Malaysia’s rich cultural fabric, lush rainforests, and culinary diversity to an even wider audience.”

Tourism Malaysia aims to attract 45 million international visitor arrivals this year, and the collaboration is expected to bolster this target by tapping into Agoda’s travel data and marketing channels.

Insights gathered from Agoda’s global user base will support Tourism Malaysia’s planning and promotional strategies.

Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, welcomed the partnership as a timely boost to the country’s tourism ambitions.

“Embracing digitalization, we value our partnership with Agoda to leverage its industry expertise and innovative promotion strategies. Together, we are confident in achieving our VM2026 objectives,” he said.

The collaboration will also include joint workshops focused on traveller behaviour, digital engagement, and sustainable tourism. Both parties have committed to sharing best practices and co-developing strategies to improve user experience and expand destination awareness among domestic and international tourists.

The campaign marks a significant step in Malaysia’s post-pandemic tourism recovery, with Agoda expected to serve as a key promotional partner as momentum builds toward VM2026.
