‘Charm of Jiangsu’ Takes Center Stage at Osaka World Expo 2025

Jiangsu province highlighted its cultural depth and economic vitality during “Jiangsu Week” at the 2025 Osaka World Expo, held from May 20 to 22.

Themed “Joining Hands with Beautiful Jiangsu, Creating a Green Future,” the event brought the “Charm of Jiangsu” to life through a dynamic blend of traditional artistry, technological exhibitions, and cross-border economic dialogue.

At the Jiangsu intangible cultural heritage pavilion, visitors experienced the province’s centuries-old traditions.

Live demonstrations included Nanjing Yunjin brocade weaving, Suzhou double-sided embroidery, tea art ceremonies, Xuzhou fragrant bag making, and intricate wood and porcelain carvings from Taizhou and Yancheng.

These exhibits offered a vivid expression of Jiangsu’s rich heritage and craftsmanship.

Interactive experiences such as the “Five Oceans Adventure” digital installation transported visitors to simulated submarine dives, showcasing Jiangsu’s embrace of digital innovation alongside its cultural roots.

The week-long presentation reflected the enduring relationship between Jiangsu and Japan, particularly Osaka Prefecture, which shares 45 years of subnational cooperation with the Chinese province.

Jiangsu remains a key hub for Japanese investment, hosting over 3,000 Japanese-funded firms and accounting for nearly 20% of China-Japan trade volume.

During the Jiangsu Economic and Trade Exchange Conference, nearly 60 Chinese and Japanese enterprises explored new commercial opportunities, including firms like Wanbang Star Charging Technology Co., Ltd.

Dedicated theme days for Yancheng, Wuxi, and Suzhou added depth to the program, offering a multifaceted view of Jiangsu’s culture, innovation, and business potential.

The “Charm of Jiangsu” was on full display—blending tradition with forward-looking development and strengthening the province’s international ties.
