Aboitiz Construction, Batangas State University Forge Alliance to Advance Industry-Academe Linkages

Aboitiz Construction Inc. has partnered with Batangas State University (BatStateU) to bolster the integration of academic learning and industry practice, in a move aimed at cultivating a skilled local workforce and accelerating regional development.

The collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed on May 8, seeks to establish a robust framework for hands-on internships, job placement initiatives, and joint research programs that reflect the evolving needs of the construction and engineering sectors.

Under the agreement, BatStateU students will gain access to internship opportunities across Aboitiz Construction’s various project sites, including in Batangas where the firm is expanding the Aboitiz InfraCapital’s LIMA Estate.

These placements are expected to enhance students’ industry readiness and equip them with practical skills that complement their academic training.

“By working closely with Batangas State University, we are investing in the future workforce while also opening doors for young talents in the region to grow and thrive with us,” said Raizza Manuel, Senior Assistant Vice President for People and Corporate Shared Services at Aboitiz Construction.

In addition to internships and job fairs, the partnership includes support for the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP), enabling experienced professionals to earn degrees in fields such as Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, and Computer Engineering.

This aligns with Aboitiz Construction’s efforts to create alternative career advancement pathways for skilled workers.

The alliance reflects the company’s broader commitment to building inclusive growth through education-to-employment initiatives.

By aligning with academic institutions like BatStateU, Aboitiz Construction aims to contribute to talent development and support innovation in the construction industry.

Both parties are set to continue collaborating on academic enrichment programs, including career talks and faculty immersion, to strengthen the bridge between higher education and employment in the province.
