Prudential Singapore has introduced PRUHospital Care360, a hospital income insurance plan designed to provide individuals with financial support during hospitalisation and the subsequent recovery period.
The plan aims to address a key gap in health coverage by offering daily income payouts and post-hospitalisation benefits, especially for those whose livelihoods are disrupted by illness or injury.
As many Singaporeans already hold health insurance for medical bills, PRUHospital Care360 focuses on the additional financial pressures that can arise during extended hospital stays—particularly for self-employed individuals, freelancers, and primary breadwinners without fixed incomes.
The plan provides daily cash benefits for each day the insured is hospitalised due to illness or injury, with enhanced income support for more intensive care situations such as ICU admissions.
The coverage extends beyond general hospitalisation to include hospital stays arising from accidents or any of the 21 covered infectious diseases.
In addition to daily income payouts, the plan includes lump sum benefits to support recovery at home and to help cover the costs of eligible day surgery procedures.
In Singapore, the average hospital stay in public hospitals is about seven days, according to the Ministry of Health.
Costs can vary widely depending on the type of ward and institution, often leading to out-of-pocket expenses beyond what is covered by standard health insurance.
PRUHospital Care360 is structured to give policyholders the flexibility to use payouts as needed—whether to replace lost income, cover non-medical expenses like caregiver services, or fund home modifications to facilitate rehabilitation.
The plan also includes access to a range of value-added health services through Prudential’s partner network.
These services are aimed at supporting preventive care and long-term health management, and include health screening and vaccination packages, chronic care management programs, traditional Chinese medicine treatments, and teleconsultation services.
This integrated approach underscores the insurer’s commitment to enabling policyholders not only to recover but to proactively manage their wellbeing.
Enrollment for PRUHospital Care360 is streamlined, requiring applicants to answer only three health questions instead of undergoing a full underwriting process.
The simplified application process is intended to make the plan accessible to a broader group of individuals, aligning with Prudential’s objective to offer more inclusive and comprehensive health protection options in a cost-sensitive environment.
With PRUHospital Care360, Prudential Singapore is addressing the increasingly important intersection of healthcare and income security.
The plan reflects a growing shift in the insurance industry toward more holistic health solutions that go beyond hospital bill reimbursement, providing individuals with the tools and financial resources to navigate both the medical and non-medical consequences of health disruptions.
