Starbucks Philippines Offers Free Upsize to Voters on May 12

Starbucks Philippines will offer voters a free upsize on any handcrafted beverage on May 12, in a move to encourage civic participation during the country’s national and local elections.

Customers who present proof of voting — typically shown by an index finger marked with indelible ink — will be eligible for a free single upsize at all Starbucks stores nationwide, the company said in a statement.

The offer will be available from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on May 12 for dine-in, take-out, and drive-thru transactions, with a limit of two beverages per transaction. The promotion is not applicable to delivery orders or mobile app purchases, Starbucks said.

“Every vote counts, and every cup can celebrate it,” Starbucks Philippines said, highlighting the campaign as part of its “Care to Vote” initiative.

Customers making eligible purchases can still earn rewards under the Starbucks Rewards program, while those using personal cups will continue to receive a PHP 10 cup discount. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) are also entitled to apply their statutory discounts on qualifying purchases under the promotion.

However, certain discounts and rewards, including Recovery Coupons, Customer Voice Redemptions, and Starbucks Free Beverage or Birthday Rewards, are excluded from the May 12 upsize offer.

The initiative comes as more private companies in the Philippines launch voter-support campaigns, providing perks and incentives aimed at boosting voter turnout. Starbucks joins other brands offering election-day promotions to remind Filipinos of the importance of participating in the democratic process.

National and local elections are scheduled across the country on May 12, with polling precincts open from early morning until late evening.
