Philippines: Aboitiz Construction completes Lagonglong Port for AMADI Terminals

Aboitiz Construction has completed the construction of the Lagonglong Port in Misamis Oriental for AMADI MGT Terminals Inc., marking a key infrastructure milestone aimed at enhancing logistics and trade in northern Mindanao.

The new private commercial port, located in the municipality of Lagonglong, includes dock facilities, cold storage areas, and loading and unloading equipment.

Designed to handle up to 3.3 million metric tons of bulk cargo per year, the port is expected to facilitate the efficient transport of agricultural products and raw materials, while supporting employment and regional economic development.

With a berth measuring 250 meters long and 23 meters wide, and a seabed elevation of -21 meters from mean lower low water (MLLW), the facility can accommodate larger vessels and optimize cargo operations.

“We are not just building a port; we are fostering economic growth and job creation,” said Ramez Sihom, Chief Operating Officer of Aboitiz Construction. “Our commitment to operational excellence drives us to continue our partnership with AMADI in advancing both business and communities.”

At the height of construction, the project employed up to 300 workers, underscoring the company’s emphasis on job generation in the local community.

The project was launched with a groundbreaking ceremony in January 2024, attended by government officials including Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri and Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.

Separately, Aboitiz Construction is building a new berth dedicated to cement cargo at the Davao International Container Terminal (DICT) in Panabo City.

The new structure—DICT’s fifth berth—is scheduled for completion this year and will accommodate cement and related materials, further reinforcing the region’s supply chain infrastructure.

Aboitiz Construction has a longstanding relationship with DICT, having built all four of its existing berths, the latest completed in 2021.

The company also previously delivered marine and industrial infrastructure projects in Balamban, Cebu, for Tsuneishi Heavy Industries.
