StarCruises announced that its revitalized brand will return to Hong Kong with the debut of the Star Voyager cruise ship, set to operate from June 27 to August 31, 2025, offering itineraries to Japan and Taiwan.
The deployment of Star Voyager marks the first time the company has homeported a vessel in Hong Kong since it began cruises from the city over three decades ago.
The move is expected to bolster cruise tourism in the region and reaffirm the company’s long-standing presence in Asia’s cruise market.
“We are proud to return to Hong Kong, a city that holds a special place in StarCruises’ history and heritage. This homecoming is deeply meaningful, as it reconnects us with our roots and long-standing legacy in the region,” said Michael Goh, President for StarDream Cruises.
Star Voyager will offer a range of itineraries during its Hong Kong season, including 2-, 3-, and 5-night cruises to destinations such as Kaohsiung and Penghu in Taiwan, and Naha and Ishigaki in Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture.
The schedule also features the popular 2-night Weekend High Seas Cruise, designed for short leisure getaways.
The cruise line’s summer program includes a mix of cultural and scenic experiences. In Taiwan, passengers will visit Kaohsiung’s modern art districts and traditional temples, as well as Penghu’s historic villages and beaches.
The Japan sailings will feature Okinawa’s capital Naha, known for its Ryukyu heritage and shopping streets, alongside Ishigaki’s beaches and natural landscapes.
A highlight of the season is the combined Japan and Taiwan cruise, a 5-night voyage visiting Ishigaki, Keelung, and Penghu, scheduled for July 27 and August 24.
Onboard, Star Voyager will offer a variety of amenities including water parks, rock climbing, ziplining, live entertainment, and themed events.
Accommodation options range from standard cabins to premium Palace Suites, which include private facilities and personalized services.
The return of StarCruises to Hong Kong comes amid growing demand for cruise tourism in Asia, with the company targeting both local travelers and the fly-and-rail cruise market segment.
