PropTech Philippines holds first hackathon in Cebu to tackle real estate challenges

PropTech Philippines, an affiliate of Filipino Homes Group of Companies, is launching today (April 14) its first hackathon in Cebu to develop digital solutions for real estate and events industry challenges.

The two-day event, branded Hackestate: Hackathon 2025, will run from April 14 to 15 at the Sacred Heart Center in Cebu City. It is supported by Filipino Homes, the country’s largest real estate service network.

The initiative aims to foster collaboration between young innovators and industry professionals while promoting the practical application of technology in real estate.

“This is more than just a competition. It’s a platform for innovation,” said Anthony Gerard Leuterio, chief executive officer of Proptech Philippines.

Student teams from 13 Cebu-based universities, including the University of San Carlos and the University of the Philippines Cebu, will compete to develop web-based applications focused on user experience, impact, and creativity.

Prizes include PHP 30,000 for the top team, PHP 20,000 for second place, and PHP 10,000 for third.

“We believe in investing in start-ups and nurturing new ideas. The future is digital, and we are committed to helping young talents create solutions that will move the real estate industry forward,” Leuterio, who is also the founder and CEO of Filipino Homes, added.

According to Leuterio, in Hackestate participants won’t just code—they’ll analyze real estate problems, study their root causes, and design meaningful tech-driven solutions.

They will also be encouraged to think creatively about how technology can simplify, streamline, and elevate property processes across the board.

It also serves as a career platform, helping students connect with professionals, potential employers, and mentors.

PropTech Philippines said the initiative reflects its broader strategy of investing in startups and preparing local talent for regional tech trends through international exposure.
