Philippine Airlines (PAL) will reopen its PAL Aviation School under a strategic tie-up with Airways Aviation Group, aiming to deliver top-tier pilot training as part of the flag carrier’s long-term push for operational excellence, safety, and workforce development.
Following an extensive evaluation, PAL selected the Australia-based academy of Airways Aviation for its global reputation and robust safety and competency-focused methodology.
“Airways Aviation met our stringent requirements and demonstrated their emphasis on safety culture,” said PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng. “We value the importance of in-house training in shaping pilots with the exceptional skills and innovative spirit required to meet future challenges.”
The partnership highlights strengthening education and training links between the Philippines and Australia, and signals both nations’ commitment to supporting a skilled aviation workforce.
“This collaboration is more than a training program,” said Romy Hawatt, Founder and Chairman of Airways Aviation Group. “It’s a strategic alliance built on trust, ambition, and a shared commitment to aviation excellence.”
PAL reaffirmed its pledge to develop home-grown talent by combining local investment with global best practices.
The first group of cadets will begin their foundational training and assessment in the Philippines, then head to Airways Aviation’s Australian campuses for advanced theory and hands-on flight instruction, supported by expert faculty and industry-leading technology.
“We are investing in the future of aviation,” Hawatt added, “and this partnership underscores our joint vision of safety, professionalism, and sustainability.”
