Philippines: Converge Expands Partnership with Ribbon for AI Network Upgrade

Philippine fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc said it would adopt Ribbon Communications Inc’s artificial intelligence-enabled data transmission technology to enhance its nationwide network.

The move is part of Converge’s efforts to meet growing demand for high-speed, low-latency, and reliable connectivity across the country, the company said in a statement.

Converge will implement Ribbon’s Muse Multilayer Automation Platform (MAP), designed to optimize IP Optical network operations through automation and analytics.

The AI-driven platform will help Converge manage increasing data traffic from applications such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud services.

“We are planning important developments in the products and services we offer to our customers, and it’s vital that our infrastructure can support these,” said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy.

The latest agreement expands Converge’s initial collaboration with Ribbon, which introduced the firm’s 5-nanometer, 140Gbaud transmission chipset to Converge’s network in North and Central Luzon. The chipset increased network capacity to 1.2 terabits per second (Tbps).

The expanded rollout will see the AI-powered optical transmission solution deployed nationwide, enhancing the broadband provider’s data transmission capacity and operational efficiency.

“We are delighted to support Converge in enhancing their network, which has been acknowledged as one of the most advanced in the Philippines,” Ribbon Communications CEO Bruce McClelland said.

Based in Texas, Ribbon Communications provides real-time communications technology and IP optical networking solutions for service providers and enterprises worldwide.
