Lalamove officially launches ride-hailing services in Cebu

Lalamove is officially offering ride-hailing services in Cebu, offering a two-percent commission rate for partner drivers to give Cebuano commuters more convenient, affordable, and safe transportation options in the Visayas region’s rising economic and tourist hub.

The platform targets to onboard at least 1,500 drivers with hatchback cars, sedans, and MPVs in Cebu during the first half of 2025 to ease the transportation woes of passengers in Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, and the rest of Cebu province.

“The rapid economic growth of Cebu is undeniable, especially as it continues to attract over 2 million local and international tourists. All these combined fuel the heightened need for better transportation means, especially during peak, holiday, and tourist seasons. Lalamove Ride’s ride-hailing entry in Cebu aims to provide convenient, safe, and affordable transportation options for Cebuanos and ease the challenges posed by traffic congestion island-wide,” remarked Lalamove Philippines Managing Director Djon Nacario.

Helping lives and livelihoods in Cebu and improving transportation

Lalamove’s expansion into ride-hailing in Cebu also provides a significant opportunity for partner drivers to generate more income through the app. Nacario pointed out that verified drivers for ride-hailing can take home 98 percent of their income, and take advantage of ride-hailing bookings and delivery orders.

“In line with our commitment to supporting communities, we want to help improve Cebu’s current transportation system. At the same time, we’re here to provide more flexible livelihood opportunities for partner drivers in just one app,” he shared.

Drivers, however, are not allowed to service passengers and deliver packages at the same time. But while they are not allowed to accept and co-load both deliveries and ride-hailing orders, they can plan their schedules and routes better to maximize their income.

For example, current Lalamove partner drivers with sedans arrive early in Mandaue City, Talisay City, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu City, and other high-booking areas for deliveries. To earn more, they can reserve time and identify locations best known for high demand among commuters.

Lalamove’s Sign-up Process for TNVS Drivers

The following valid documents are required by Lalamove from interested ride-hailing driver applicants in Cebu: (1) a Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) or Provisional Authority (PA) issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB); (2) a professional driver’s license, (3) NBI/barangay/police clearance; (4) passenger accident insurance; and (5) vehicle photos.

Those borrowing the car to be used for Lalamove’s ride-hailing purposes in Cebu have to provide a Letter of Authorization from the vehicle owner, while drivers who are the second or third owners of their vehicle have to submit the Deed of Sale.

“Lalamove has been in Cebu since 2018 to cater to the on-demand delivery needs of Cebuanos island-wide. More than ride-hailing services, our goal is to provide better transportation, offering convenience, affordability, and safety so Cebuanos can get to where they need to be,” shared Nacario.
