BYU-Pathway Worldwide, an online higher education institution sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has opened its first Global Education Center in Cebu City, marking its first such facility in the Philippines.
The center was inaugurated with a forum on Feb. 8, 2025, at the Cebu Temple Complex. The event was attended by enrolled BYU-Pathway students, government officials, and media representatives.
The Cebu facility offers a campus-style environment, providing students with hands-on training, interview practice rooms, career preparation resources, English language classes, remote workstations, and collaborative study spaces.

“This center is more than just a space; it’s a place that will empower students to accomplish their academic, career, and personal goals,” said Brian K. Ashton, president of BYU-Pathway Worldwide. He added that the initiative aims to help students grow academically while fostering closer ties to their faith and communities.
The center operates in partnership with accredited U.S. institutions, including BYU-Idaho and Ensign College, offering online bachelor’s degrees that can be completed in three years, reducing both the cost and time required, the statement said.
The Global Education Center in Cebu is part of BYU-Pathway Worldwide’s broader expansion, with three centers currently in operation and two more in development globally.
The centers extend BYU-Pathway’s online offerings by providing physical campuses that support career preparation, technology labs with computer access, job placement resources, social activities, and EnglishConnect and religious courses.
BYU-Pathway Worldwide, which began in 2009 with just 50 students in three U.S. locations, now serves more than 74,000 students in 180 countries.
The program is open to all individuals, regardless of religious background, and emphasizes a certificate-first approach, allowing students to earn three certificates and an associate degree before completing their bachelor’s degrees.
