Binance Labs Rebrands to YZi Labs, Expands Focus Beyond Blockchain

Binance Labs has rebranded to YZi Labs, signaling its expanded investment focus beyond cryptocurrency and blockchain to include artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnology.

The rebranding reflects the organization’s independent operations and broader vision, coinciding with Binance founder CZ stepping down from Binance.

YZi Labs will continue to prioritize Web3 innovation while exploring synergies between Web3, AI, and biotech.

CZ remains actively involved, mentoring founders and contributing to investment decisions, underscoring the firm’s commitment to supporting transformative projects with long-term impact.

Ella Zhang, who co-launched Binance Labs with CZ in 2018, returns as Head of YZi Labs.

During her earlier tenure, she led the incubation of over 40 startups, including Polygon, CertiK, and Dune Analytics. Zhang’s return brings deep investment expertise to guide the firm’s next growth phase.

“Rebranding to YZi Labs reflects our expanded vision to explore transformative sectors like AI and biotech,” CZ said. “With Ella’s leadership, we remain dedicated to empowering founders driving meaningful innovation.”

YZi Labs will also refine its incubation program, introducing a 12-week residency to foster collaboration among founders. Despite its broadened focus, YZi Labs will maintain support for its existing portfolio and initiatives, including the BNB Chain’s Most Valuable Builder program.

“This rebranding marks a new chapter while staying true to our mission of empowering visionary founders,” Zhang said. “By embracing new horizons, YZi Labs aims to create lasting value through innovation.”

YZi Labs will continue backing projects with potential for industry-defining impact, regardless of market conditions.
