Thailand to Showcase Medical and Wellness Excellence at Expo 2025 Osaka

Thailand is gearing up to make a notable appearance at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, showcasing its growing reputation as a global leader in medical and wellness services.

According to Minister of Public Health Somsak Thepsutin, the country will utilize the World Expo’s international platform to highlight a unique blend of traditional healthcare practices and modern medical advancements, reinforcing Thailand’s commitment to delivering comprehensive well-being for all.

“Thailand’s policies focus on transforming the country into an international medical hub,” Minister Somsak told reporters on Monday. “Our participation in Expo 2025 will highlight our strengths in these areas, reflecting how our culture and hospitality merge seamlessly with state-of-the-art healthcare solutions.”

Under the Expo’s overarching theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” Thailand’s pavilion will be divided into five core pillars.

These include traditional Thai healthcare, which emphasizes centuries-old practices that promote harmony between people and nature; Thai herbs and culinary health, exemplified by dishes like Tom Yum Goong that incorporate medicinal herbs; and Thai herbal medicine, featuring products such as aroma inhalers and therapeutic massage oils.

Thailand’s globally renowned Thai massage, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, will also take center stage, demonstrating its therapeutic benefits.

In addition, the country will spotlight its modern medical excellence, supported by 62 healthcare organizations accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), placing Thailand fourth globally and first in Southeast Asia for accredited facilities.

Medical tourism has emerged as a key growth driver for Thailand’s economy, with the industry valued at one trillion baht (approximately US$28.18 billion).

Officials predict this figure could climb to 2.2 trillion baht (around US$64.02 billion) by 2034, thanks to increasing international demand for Thailand’s healthcare services.

Beyond medical expertise, the nation’s reputation for hospitality, cultural richness, and scenic attractions further cements its standing among the top five medical tourism destinations worldwide.

Expo 2025 is scheduled to take place from April 13 to October 13 in Osaka, where organizers expect to draw 28 million visitors.

Thai officials see the event as a prime opportunity to demonstrate the country’s robust capabilities in healthcare, deepen international collaborations, and encourage visitors to experience firsthand the warm hospitality and comprehensive well-being services that set Thailand apart on the global stage.
